Christmas Morning

This was the first Christmas morning that Kylie woke up early and could not go back to sleep. We finally let her wake up her sisters about 6:45.  Kylie was wondering why she did not get everything that she asked Santa for. 

  Breah was so excited to see the Sleeping Beauty stuff.  Addi did not know what to think.



Addi got really excited when she opened the Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head set.

These are the first princess dressup clothes the girls have ever had. Breah immediately put on hers and carried around her new doll and horse.

My dad made this Barbie house for my oldest sister when she was little. Her daughter has had it and they passed it on to us now. The girls were very excited to see and want to help me fix it up.

Christmas Eve

Grandpa has had this train since he was a little boy. He has put it under the Christmas tree ever since I can remember.

Chrismas Eve in new PJ's. Before we went home, Grandpa tried to help Kylie find Santa in the sky. The whole way home Kylie and Breah were looking out the window watching for Santa and his sleigh.

 

SLEDDING FUN

Monday morning, we woke up to lots and lots of snow. We bundled up the girls and headed out to the park. It was the perfect day- no wind and overcast. 
By the time Collin and I got to the park, we were already worn out! The snow was so deep. Then Collin realized both cell phones fell out of his coat. He searched our trail all the way back to our house and only found mine.

The girls enjoyed going down the slides. I think Breah preferred them because snow was not flying in her face.

The hill was tricky to climb back up. We told them to go around the other side, but they would not give up. Kylie absolutely loved sledding and would have stayed outside all day if we let her!

Addison could not walk in the snow with all her layers. She fell everytime she got up. We were holding her most of the time, until Collin showed her that she could eat snow. Then she sat at the top of the hill watching us sled and eating the snow. She was very content with that.

The search for the missing cell phone continued on the trek home. I brought the girls in and Collin kept on looking. Finally, he called around our neighborhood until he found someone with a metal detector. He came all the way home from work to find it. Thank goodness! It was in a place we would not have looked and completely covered by fresh snow.

Last night, I decided to use our extra strand of Christmas lights in the girls room around the window.

As we were taping them up, Breah says, "Wow, this is so IMPRESSIVE!"

"What a big word for a little girl," I say.

A few minutes later she says, "This is SO STUPID!"

I guess she doesn't know what impressive means!

Scripture Story

While reading scriptures, we decided to discuss what death is. In our little girls world of "sleeping beauty" and "snow white", they quite often play like someone died and then is alive again. I used my long black button up sweater with a hood as our object. I laid it on the floor, explaining that it is a body with no spirit. Then, I had Breah put it on and move, explaining that she is the spirit making the body move. She enjoyed it, buttoned it up, put on the hood and responded, "I look like the guy on Star Wars".

Christmas Tree Hunter

We drove into the mountains until we found snow last Saturday. We pulled the girls in the sled and made snow angels. It has become tradition to cut down our own Christmas tree every year. The girls always look forward to it.

After hiking for an hour, Collin brought back the perfect tree.

I brought Addison into the doctor yesterday for her two week checkup. She had tubes put in her ears and since then, her vocab and desire to try and talk has increased so much! It had been fun to listen to her copy what everyone says. Her favorite thing now is books. She is constantly bringing books to me and patting the floor for me to sit down and read to her. She echos everything I say as I read. I have even caught her sitting on Kylie and Breah's laps while they are reading to her. It is so cute!
