She chipped her front tooth at about year old. It looked like half of it broke off. We took an emergency trip to the dentist to find out it would be fine. As it has grown in, it doesn't look like as much was chipped, but people are always asking what happened.
She has had countless ear infections, lots of antibiotics, and finally a quick surgery to have ear tubes. We were so grateful that the pain finally stopped. An added bonus: she started talking almost immediately. We wondered why she was not talking and almost two years old.
She also had lots of problems with wheezing. We had to get a nebulizer and use it on a regular basis for a few months. Super scary! Miraculosly, when she got ear tubes, the wheezing stopped.
And, yes, the first broken bone! Poor girl!
We have three huge trees in our yard. Their leaves fall early in the year.
We also have a huge tree swing in one of these trees. Every year we rake a huge pile under the swing. The kids can pump themselves just enough to jump into the pile. It is lots of fun all month long.
After Kylie's birthday, we raked and mowed up at least half of the leaves that they had been jumping in. Collin was pushing Addi as high as the swing would go.
Unexpectedly, she jumped. She missed the small leaf pile by about 5 feet.
The first few times she tried to use her arm, she would just start crying all over again. Then she just stopped using it altogether, but acted fine. After a couple days, it started swelling and bruising.
We finally got it x-rayed. They called it a 'buckle fracture' on her arm, just above her wrist. She was such a good patient. I think she loves the attention. The cast will have to stay on for four weeks.
But, I guess if this is the worst luck our family has, we are very blessed!
